Relationship Status:
Married
About Me:
I am a man of very few words: a long-time fan of the band in all of its various incarnations, However, still awaiting the classic line up re-union; c. The Lamb. Although, I suppose the best possible show would be along the lines of the 1991 Yes Union tour which featured all, or at least most, of the Yes-Men past and present. I was lucky enough to catch the show in Birmingham, England.

A similar show from Genesis [6 of the best aside] would certainly be interesting and could also possibly feature some takes on the band members' various solo projects and, as such, potentially form the basis of an album worth the promotional function of touring. It would definitely be a challenge and the prospect of a properly rehearsed line up featuring all personnel, including Ant etc. would present the chance to outdo all previous offerings and deliver the long awaited definitive Genesis album.

But to get to the point, I am married with two teenage kids and music forms a large part in all of our lives. My son and I are both musicians and fans of Genesis and my wife and daughter would certainly be up for the above mentioned re-union/album/tour.

My musical taste is extremely varied and is partially reflected in the shows my band, Midlife Krisis, put on. We are a bunch of guys who have been playing together off and on for well over a decade. Currently, we play pubs in the East Midlands region of England. We are all in full-time employment: the band gives us the opportunity to play the kind of music we grew up listening to for audiences that usually include at least some who missed out on the 60s and 70s, when, arguably, Brittania ruled the airwaves and concert venues of the world. Please forgive the jingoism.

I can remember growing up as the Beatles, Stones, Zep, The Who, Kinks, Faces, Pistols, Clash, Police, XTC, Damned and Ian Dury, to name just a few, established themselves in varying degrees, and consequently feeling almost as proud to be British as my study of our martial and social history often made me feel ashamed.

I came to Genesis relatively late, at the age of fifteen, when a schoolfriend aquired all of the albums up to and including The Lamb from a guy who was going to unversity and [inexplicably, to us] sold his Genesis collection. It was like discovering hidden treasure and from that moment I was hooked.

I hope that a 100 years from now, more people will know who John Lennon was; as opposed to any war mongering politician of the 19th, 20th or early 21st century. He deserves to be appreciated in the same manner that Bach, Mozart, or Ghandi are now. Naturally, the Holographic Stones will still be performing shows direct from their various AI sites; having donated their collective brains to science. And somewhere, no doubt, a bunch of die hard fans will still be swapping their Genesis bootlegs.

If you have manged to wade through all of the above I have only one question to ask: why?

My hometown isn't the largest city in the state, but it does have a population of more than 200,000 people, so I'm sure there's SOMEBODY out there who likes Genesis! I just don't know who they are!

I did give an informative speech on Genesis in my college public speaking class. Usually students in my classes are somewhere between mid-20s to middle age. (I go to a community college, which makes the age range more diversified.) Most of the students in this class were around their mid-20s (with a few high schoolers who were enrolled in some type of special high school/college program.) I'm not sure how many of them I have convinced into checking out Genesis. (I don't see them in other classes or around campus.) But my teacher said he would check out some Genesis CDs the next time he was going to the music store! I speak to him every now and then, but I don't know if he lived up to his promise. I should question him the next time I see him!

But you're right. Why worry when I've got this wonderful community of Genesis fans to hang out with? Actually a couple of my GC friends are from my home state, though I've never met them face-to-face. But maybe I will get the chance to do so with a hometown Genesis fan at some point in time!

Thanks for the friend request! That's cool about your kids. I'm glad when I learn that there are other young people besides myself who love the music of Genesis. I just wish I knew some in my hometown that do....

Hey, Donus! I know LCD beat me to it, but thanks again for joining the Singing Drivers group!

*ahem* I declare you guilty as charged for singing while driving (or is it driving while singing?). I sentence you to sing at all times in your vehicle of choice... with the windows down! *knocks gavel on judge stand* ;)

Keep on rockin', man! :D

Thanks Donus - my mum had book loads of greenshield stamps stuffed in the kitchen drawers when I was a kid -couldn't tell you one damn thing she bought with them though. I find the sight of them strangely comforting now in this crazy modern world :-))

I'm not, actually. I know who Pratchett is but haven't read any of his books.
