genesis setlist to listen to on CD.....

My

Set List
I was messing around, and I wanted to know what you all thought. I used the Setlist from the WCD tour, Mixed with the 2007 tour, and my own ideas. I think it flows fairly well. I used the remasters and put them on cd. I have been listening to them all week.

Land of confusion
No son of mine
Driving the last spike
Dance on a volcano
...In that quiet earth
Dreaming while you sleep
Fading lights
Jesus he knows me
mama
Duchess
Ripples
Home by the sea
Hold on my heart
Domino
Los endos
I can't dance
Tonight, tonight, tonight
Invisible touch
Throwing it all away
Turn it on again

Well, from what I've read (and trying to play bits of each song in my head, one after the other) it sounds like a pretty good setlist. I have the "Live Over Europe 2007" and "Live: The Way We Walk" CDs downloaded in my iPod. Since some of the songs like "Land of Confusion" and "Mama" are on both CDs, would you mind telling which songs came from which CDs? I'd like to know so I can listen to each song in the order you put your setlist.

The songs I have been using, are from the remasters. From the boxsets...

I wanted to put together something that is just studio.....

I'm having a little trouble trying to find some songs to put around "Driving the last spike" but at the same time not having to take out any songs....But then I don't want to make it too long.....

Remind me to never take a long drive with you! lol Where are all the Gabriel era fans in this community? It definately seems tilted towards Phil and later Genesis and I just don't get it! No offense. Your list just set something off and I had to vent.

I've actually gotten the opposite reaction when looking at other people's GC pages. It appears to me that there are a lot of devoted Gabriel-era fans. Remember, some people probably got their first exposure to Genesis by listening to the Collins-era tunes on the radio or maybe the videos on TV. While some may have decided to go no farther, others (like myself) wanted to go back and experience what the Gabriel years were all about (and liked what they heard-and maybe some figured they prefered PG over PC Genesis. Just an assumption.) To be honest, I'm not sure I would have ever gotten into, let alone heard, the Gabriel stuff if I hadn't heard the Collins-era stuff first. Who knows? All I know is I'm glad to be a Genesis fan, no matter who the lead singer is! :-)

Of course there are alot of Gabriel era fans but not compared to the later years.I also think most people on here are more pop oriented and not Prog oriented, hence the attraction to the later years. I got my first exposure to Collins era as well via Wind and Wuthering
and ...and then there were three but quickly discovered and devoured
everything leading back to Trespass. Once I heard that ,it was over! Yes,I love everything up to Duke but after that they are a different band. Didn't we just talk about all of this on two other forums? LOL

Yeah, but I guess it bears repeating haha.

yeeeeeessssss.....heheheheh.

This has been talked about many times. lol....good times.

Very true though....they did become more pop oriented in the later years. They did become in a sense a different band.

I have to admit....I am a little on the pop side. *Sigh*

The one thing I love is, Genesis music is still genesis music. No matter who is singing......That is why I liked calling all stations. ect.....

I agree...

My impression is that there are more Gabriel fans then Phil Fans, on the community.....but we are all in the same genesis family here.

It's ok. :)

I understand your feelings......

The reason I didn't add any Gabriel era songs was.....I wanted to keep the same era kinda together.

I wanted to add more songs from 1976 back, but the contrast in styles seems to throw off my listing rhythm.

I came from the the later era of Genesis in 1987. But I started listening backwards, and now I love it all.

I do tend to like the periods from 1976-1991more, but that because I am a Phil Fan.

However I would like to put something together when the new boxset comes out in a few month. :)

(Oh! I'm not offended at. :) I got your comment on myspace. Thank you. I am happy to add you as a friend. I enjoy the feedback, and the discussion. Good times.)

What I meant to say was, since I won't be able to listen to every song you've put on the list, this will give me an idea of what your setlist sounds like.

Sounds like a pretty good setlist to me!!

I have to agree with Old Father Thames, theres not enough balance with Gabriel era songs. My Genesis mix Cd would be:
ABACAB
Land of Confusion
Dancing with the Moonlight Knight
No Son of Mine
Dance on a Volcanoe
Fly on a Windshield/Broadway Melody of '74
Home by the Sea
The Lady Lies
Behind the Lines/Dutchess/Guide Vocal
Suppers Ready
Unquiet Slumbers for the Sleepers.....In that Quiet Earth
AfterGlow
Carpet Crawlers
Los Endos
