If we are talking official. Then its Seconds out for me.If we are tailking boots, theres so many to choose from.
1. TM, Frankfurt 30/10/81 because the quality is as good as official releases.
2. "As Good as Gold", May 1980,Lyceum gig.(i was there, standing front row between Phil & Tony)
Before Live Over Europe was released I would have probably said The Longs as I really like the sound and power of the album. I think the Old Medley sounds superb forgetting what others may think of its construction. The double drums on Home By The Sea are powerful and I find it amazing that Fading Lights is just Tony, Phil and Mike.
However having said all that I'm now very partial to Live Over Europe mainly because it's a representation of the only Genesis tour I've actually attended and more particularly because it features several tracks from the actual gig I attended. My only real problem with it is that the audience is a bit too low in the mix at times, otherwise I love it.
"Live" was my first Genesis LP ever, so it has a close place in my heart
Seconds Out would be...second
and the new Live Over Europe 2007 is fast becoming a favorite
If you go to www.themusic.com you can get the COMPLETE recording of any of the Concerts from 2007 USA or Europe. Includes all of the in between chatter from Phil etc....
I have the cd from the Madison Square Garden show, its like re-living it every time I listen. Its great.
For me, it's the first live album. It contains version that sound far superior to their studio counterparts. Bless those early Genesis fans who listened to the tunes and then went insane afterward. You can hear every accent of Phil's percussion. Magical. 'Seconds Out' is a close second. It may be heresy but I prefer that version of Supper's to the original. Don't hurt me!
