Hello, fellow Genesis lovers! Guess what? ...I JUST GRADUATED FROM COLLEGE! WOO-HOOOOOOO!!!!! :D
Oh, man, it was such a great day. I was pretty worried about the whole ordeal in the morning because last night after moving home and even hanging out with my guy friends, I got really emotional at home about everything. Unlike many college students, I really didn't (and still don't) want to leave my college - the place has been my home for four years, and the people there have been very much like a family to me, both faculty and friends alike. I love my alma mater! :D
Anyway, it's been raining here a lot in several sections of the week, which threatened the graduation ceremony being outside. Luckily at Baccalaureate, the president of the college (oops, we're a university now) asked us if we wanted to have the ceremony inside or outside - we all voted for outside! YEAH!! >:D Well, during the whole thing it was lovely weather - not too hot or cold, and mostly sunny the whole time! I got to see all of my buddies and talk to everyone in my class before the ordeal, and I paraded through the front lawn to the sound of bagpipes and later the piano playing "Pomp and Circumstance." Everyone was there - not only my immediate family, but also all of my buddies! YEAH!
Now, the president warned us yesterday that we ladies should not wear heels or nice shoes for fear of sinking in the mud, falling, or getting our best shoes messed up. Regardless, all the ladies wore heels or nice shoes... except for me. I was clad in a different attire - black robe, Honors Program medal (only 8 of the 617 undergrads had them!), English medal and cords, Phi Kappa Phi (All-Honors = very selective!) cords, band honor cords... and my black Converse shoes (like the kinds that Phil and the boys used to wear!). Yeah, I didn't look that great; I looked kind of like a goofball... but I didn't care because I didn't sink in the mud and I didn't fall on my face! I strutted out across the stage with my medals and cords and got my sweet purple tube that said CONGRATS! It was so awesome... When the Dean called my name, adding Summa Cum Laude and Honors Program, EVERYONE cheered for me... my music people, the English people (I majored in English... and Secondary Ed... and minored in Spanish!), my family, and my friends. It was SOOOO cool!
After the ordeal, I shook a lot of hands, hugged my favorite old English professor, took a lot of pictures, saw my family, and went to lunch with my closest friends (the guys!) to AppleBee's. Now I'm home... and... it still hasn't hit me. UGH! I'm sure it will soon... -_-*
So anyway, there it is. There's a lot of discussion in the back ground so this doesn't seem too coherent... and I'm trying to navigate on my new laptop that I got! It's sweet... I totally could have used it in college, though, cos my old computer was SLOOOOOOOWWWW...
Oh, and if you want to see, the link below is a goofy picture of me in my gown thingy. It's not that great of a shot of me, really, but it's the best I've got. Check it out if you want! :)
Theme song for today, I've found.... "Domino." Why? "There's nothing you can do when you're next in line - gotta go, Domino!" and "We're the next in line, the next in line..." It's like we're the next in to get our diplomas! :D
Later! ^_^
