How things work ( or don't ) ...

I have been told the heating in my office isn't working because the room is too cold.
If it were warmer, the heating would work.

Now, I'm no expert, but I can't help but think that this isn't right ? ...

I somehow doubt that, When I used to work in a Factory Plant Maintenance dept (We also looked after the offices) we couldnt use that as an excuse and it is an excuse and poor cheastnut at that. Mark (Doktor) I would question this one as it sounds like theyre either trying to shut you up or they do not know what they are on about.... Best of Luck....

Oh it's clear that the maintenance guys don't have a clue what they are doing.
A few weeks ago, one of them 'fixed' my air-con by switching it off. I mean, yes technically it no longer wasn't working, but that's not the point.
The problem seems to be that my room is rather big, and the heating doofer is rather feeble, so when it gets too cold it burns itself out trying to raise the temperature in the room ( something to do with the external sensors ?! ) to the setting on the control panel. If I take the temperature down it has less chance of blowing up, but the room isn't as warm. Conversely, if the ambient room temp is higher, the heater has to do less work to raise the room temp to what is on the control panel.
Only I don't want the heating on when it's warm, so I switch it to fan to reduce the temp, and the opposite effect comes into play. Now the room is warmer than the settings on the control panel, and it all goes wrong in a different way.

In summary - Bugger !!

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. Sorry Dok, someone is pulling your leg.

They need to fix that. I would think your company wouldn't want to pay for something as shoddy as that. Maybe they can do something about getting it fixed. Stay warm, spring is coming.
