When I was a kid I didn't read much and my parents kept asking me what kind of thing I wanted to read. I said a Noggin The Nog story. My mum couldn't get any (no merchandising tie ins then!), but the bookshop said I might like The Hobbit, because that had a dragon in it as well. First book I read that was longer than Cat In The Hat. Never looked back. Thanks Mr Postgate.

A sad loss. I didn't know he'd passed. Oliver Postgate made a major contribution to my childhood...
