About Me:
I'm administrator of Midwest Genesis Fans, and Bootleg Playlists at Genesis Community.

I play the drums and keyboards, and I studied music theory at UW Madison.

Genesis has been my favorite rock band since 1986. I'm definately a 'Banksian'. To me, the romantic keyboard playing of Tony Banks is sacred. I think the best albums were the ones where Tony wrote recurring melodic themes and motifs that unified the album, like on A Trick of the Tail; Wind and Wuthering; Duke; and Tony's debut solo album, A Curious Feeling.

In Celebration of the release of the Peter Gabriel Era Box Set...

Hey all,

I've been pretty busy with school lately - so I haven't posted here in like, forever - but I thought I'd get into the spirit of the release of the Peter Gabrial Era Box Set by uploading a track some of you may find interesting. It's a version of "Firth of Fifth" with Peter Gabriel on vocals, taken from a rehearsal for the Six of the Best show. It's a soundboard recording, to boot! Hope you enjoy it.

By the way, I haven't had a chance to pick up the box set yet, but I'm hoping someone… Continue

Phil Collins Interview 2/3/81 - "In The Air Tonight" and "Please Don't Ask" Demos

Greetings. It's been a while since I've posted here at Genesis Community. It's nice to be back. I've got a couple of new songs to share with you today. But, they're a bit different than what I'd normally have for you. The music on my playlist is mainly live Genesis recordings, but I reserve the right to throw in some odd bits now and again. I recently got ahold of an interview from 2/3/81 of Phil Collins promoting his debut album, Face Value. During the interview, demo versions of "In The… Continue

"Easy Lover" cover song uploaded...yup, that's me on the drums.

Lover. Cover. That's great. Heh.

Anyway, I thought that it would be fun to take a little break from the Genesis bootlegs to show you all a recording that was made back in 1995 of a cover band that I was in at the time. The band was called Cyrus, and we played around the Milwaukee area. I was in the band from 1994-1997. We did many classic rock and progressive rock covers. "Abacab" was one Genesis song that we did. We also did this cover of the Phil Collins/Phillip Bailey classic, "Easy Lover".… Continue

Selections from the '82 Encore Tour uploaded...

Today's batch of uploads are from two shows from the '82 Encore Tour. The shows were 8/26/82 at Saratoga Springs, and 9/27/82 at the Marquee Club.

Here are the tracks:

1. Man on the Corner (9/27/82) - I think the intimate Marquee Club atmosphere serves this song well.
2. The Lamb/Watcher of the Skies (9/27/82) - We're probably all familiar with the "It/Watcher of the Skies" medley on the fourth side of the Three Sides Live album, but on this tour they substituted "The Lamb" for "It". The crowd… Continue

Seconds Out Promo Film

I decided to take down the "Evidence of Autumn" fan video in the video section of my profile page, and to go along with the "live-only" theme, I've put up the Seconds Out Promo video. This video is from a 3/19/77 performance at Moody Coliseum in Dallas, Texas.

The Tracks:
1. Firth of Fifth
2. Dance on a Volcano/Drum Duet/Los Endos
3. The Lamb/Musical Box (Closing Section)

The Wind and Wuthering tour had some of my favorite Genesis performances. Enjoy!

Yes, we could go on a Tony Tangent, but then I'm afraid that this list might never end...

Also, now that you mentioned it, the "In the Dark" vocal melody is similar to the 1st person verses of "The Lie" (you know, "Now this one I like..." etc), only in a more sad and "downward" arrangement.

but thank you for posting
