April 11, 2009: The music of Genesis and Yes at Orange County Pavilion Performing Arts Center, Santa Ana, California

Hello, All,

Well, if you've never been to the Orange County Pavilion, then seeing the plush, state-of-the-art venue is reason enough to join us on Saturday, April 11th.
But, add to that our brand-new alliance with Lighting Designer (and die-hard fan) Chris Forgette--who's already programming a show on OCP's state-of-the-art system beyond what we'd dreamed--and you just have to be there.

Oh, yeah--and then there's us! We'll be playing a set of exclusively prog Genesis, including powerful songs we've never done (thankfully mixed by our Pro, Ed O'Brien!), that Jim Ladd would simply call "tasty."
Then, stick around after us for a full set of Classic YES with ROUNDABOUT.
It's a fantastic night to be a part of, and we want ALL of you there with us!

Tickets are on sale now--get the choicest seats right away at www.ocpavilion.com--
Click "OCP Theater Calendar," scroll down to Saturday, April 11th, and click "buy tickets."

We can't wait to see you there for this magical evening!

Be well,

Scott and David (for all o' Gabble Ratchet)

Another Year - Still We Plug On

Ah, it's already March, 2009. And...it's been months since we played a show! The band got together in Santa Fe Springs, California, invited some friends to stop by for an open rehearsal, then got to see how rusty the band was. We did manage to warm up as we went along and by the end it was like an old suit - comfortable. We tried The Musical Box and it sounded good!

I was especially glad to see the band. Lately, I've done a bit of session drumming. I was reminded that most people are very afrai… Continue

Gabble Ratchet - M Bar, L.A./Hollywood, August 2, 2008

Hello, Everybody!

What do you do if you'd like to play a gig, but your resident genius keyboardist is incapacitated (though recovering nicely), and you can't get Tony Banks from 1977 (we can't; we've tried)? Why, you get another keyboard genius who's every bit as good as Tony Banks from 1977, of course! We're very pleased to announce a special reunion of sorts with that keyboard genius--Brian Holt! I'm sure some of you remember Brian from his days with the Supernatural Anaesthetists, and we're… Continue

Wecome back my friends to the show that never ends...

...To borrow ELP's lyric. The spawn that becomes a show is never tiring for me. From the moment the gig is secured, we begin seemingly endless setlist e-mails. "Aw, c'mon, David - we MUST do Battle of Epping Forest.." "We opened with Watcher last time..." and so on. The bigger the setlist, the more haggling that goes on as to the specifics. For instance, this next show is going to be 2 and 1/2 hours long. Since we're doing Foxtrot, which is 54 minutes long appoximately, that leaves a lot of spac… Continue

The Journey to Play Genesis

Genesis captured my young musical imagination when I was about 19 years old. I can't quite explain it except to say, being a drummer, Phil Collins was mesmerizing to listen to. It just made sense to me. I don't mean that as arrogant statement - some bits of his playing are hard to immitate. I just mean it makes sense. That's the only way to put it.

One morning, I woke up and thought, "I just don't want to do this anymore." I was newly married, had fought the good fight to catch on as a pro drum… Continue

Not doing too much here -- working, waiting for school...still buying all kinds of CDs, hahaha...yeah, I was very sorry to hear about Matt but I'm so glad he's okay -- hopefully you guys will be able to work on band stuff soon! Happy to hear you're doing Cul-De-Sac...one of my favorites! Looking forward to hopefully hearing these recordings when they're finished!

I've been around -- but there hasn't been as much going on here lately -- I did go to see TMB and it was amazing! -- there's a post about it in my blog. :-)

Hello :)...
"It's funny that a lot of women consider Genesis "male" music - I suppose that was due to their really early stuff. " You said...
That's got nothing to do with me, I like Genesis music since I was a little girl. That includes Gabriel days too... Maybe I'm not like the other women, I don't know... but (what I really know) is that I like what I know, and I know what I like... hehe... Have a nice day =)))))
