Long time no blog

I had the chance to see the G2 tribute band at the Library Theatre in my hometown of Luton (UK) on 26th June. The venue is quite small but was surprisingly full on a warm day, the band started solidly musically if a little nervously in attitude but they slowly started to loosen up, smile and enjoy themselves. The standout track for me could have been Inside and Out which would have been fabulous if the lead guitarist had a guitar tech to help him swap his acoustic for his electric for the… Continue

Finally received my Members only DVD (on Monday 4th August) and played half of it tonight, not as much interview and background footage material as I was expecting so far but the concert footage is great.
Also discovered a forthcoming book called Genesis and The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway, it's out 28th S… Continue

PaulHere joined Mike527's group
“Daryl Stuermer-Genesis Rewired” is an exciting fusion of Daryl's unique Genesis renditions and the soulful Collins-like voice of French Canadian, Martin Levac. Together they create an unforgettable evening that reinvents the Genesis experience.

Genesis Firsts:

One year for my birthday (or Christmas, about 1985 maybe) I was given ...and then there were three... on cassette, it intruiged me enough to look for more albums by the band, soon I had built up a nice cassette collection, then started buying the original CD editions, and the rest is on my website!

First Genesis concert: Knebworth Park, Stevenage, UK - 2nd August 1992
By this time I had been a fan for about 7 years and sang my heart out to every song.

First tribute concert: Strictly Banks (Tony Banks tribute, UK) Orchard Theatre in Dartford - 6th September 1998
I was a member of The Waiting Room magazine (remember that?) and kept on getting flyers for this special concert, it was an audacious thing to attempt especially as a one-off event, and it was a great evening.

First Mike Rutherford concert: Royal Albert Hall, London, UK - 25th May 1999.
Went with my Mum, met Mike by chance at the stage door, I was so nervous but he was gracious enough to let me take a couple of pictures and listen to me say how great it was to meet him.

Met Chris Stewart in London on 3rd June 1999 Driving Over Lemons book launch, London
An invitation was sent out to bookshops for people to attend the launch of Mr Stewarts book and I was lucky enough to go, Chris signed my copy of FGTR and chuckled when he saw the photo of himself on the cover, his books (now on his 4th) are still selling well.

First fan convention: G99 The 1999 Genesis Fan Convention Guildford Civic Hall - Saturday 11th September 1999

First Peter Gabriel related show: OVO - The Millenium Dome, Greenwich, London - 26th July 2000
Along with the Lamb this is another show i would like to see on DVD
Yes, Peter didn't actually appear in person but the show was a theatrical tour-de-force. Went to see it a second time it was so good! If you have no idea what this show was then see my Genesis website on www.hedges.org.uk
plus
First Peter Gabriel convert: Growing Up tour - May 2003)
Peter in a Zorb ball bouncing round a circular stage, rolling around on a Segway riding around on a bicycle, walking around upside down - all of this while singing - brilliant fun with acute emotion.

First Ray Wilson concert: Acoustic set - G2 Genesis Weekend, Limelight Club, Crewe - 5th April 2002
I remember Ray playing solo acoustic guitar on the same level as the audience and having a great voice. He will for me be part of the Genesis family and also a fine solo artist and a gentleman.

First Steve Hackett concert: To Watch The Storms tour - The Stables, Wavendon, Milton Keynes - 4th October 2003
As normal he took the time to sign autographs with the band after the show, this only confirmed my assumtion that he is a fine and talented chap.

First Phil Collins concert: First Final Farewell tour - Manchester MEN Arena - 28th June 2004
I could not miss Phil on tour if this really was going to be his last solo tour, I really enjoyed the show, very slick, very bright and happy and a lot of music for your money - what a brilliant bloke he is.

Awww that's just adorable and so true!!!

"every picture of Phil shows so much expression and depth - he's not hiding his emotions."
I have lots of reasons why I like him so much and that's one of them.
The whole thing of how he can have his heart on his sleeve and all his emotions are there on the surface,oh well,gosh....and he is someone who just seems to know just what we all go through in troubled times.
Certain songs and how they're sung....
"Heathaze" well I could just burst into tears sometimes listening to that.
Phil is just amazing:))

Will reply to your PM tonight when I get in and thank you for the kind words on my reply.
A beardy Phil is one of my fave things in the universe"swoons"
Converses???
See below:

He always wore them-he has them on the photos at the bottom I posted.
Greatest trainers known to mankind.
He stopped wearing them after "Hello I Must Be Going"
Last time I think he was seen in public with them is on the Perkins Palace vid.
If you have the Lyceum gig he has a red pair on there-like on the Misunderstanding vid.
I have several pairs myself, how could I not love a man who wears Converses with a magnificent beard such as he had???

Thanks for the compliments on my photos- it's nice to share them on here and make other people happy too :))
I see you met MR- lucky fellow you are and saw Phil on First Final Farwell tour.
Nice to see And Then There Were Three was one of your first albums- me too. I grew up on that and Duke and still love them both so much.
Ciao.

Hey Paul! Glad you liked the PG/Hot Chip track, there was a lot of talk about it for a while but the audio finally turned up...it's an excellent version and one could only hope that it might wind up on some sort of PG compilation or something in the future, or even a Vampire Weekend single as I guess was originally the plan. Either way, if it becomes available in a commercial, tangible format I will definitely be picking it up.

Hope all is well, and that you have a lovely Christmas as well!

Which Genesis Album Am I?

You Scored as Invisible Touch
Invisible Touch (1986). You are outgoing and accessible. You are vehemently against war, and are not afraid to say it. You wish that others would do something with the world at large and fix the problems that there are. At times you may be a tad bit escapist with music and might listen to it very often just to get the high. You have a fiery personality, full of passion.

Invisible Touch 80%
Genesis 75%
Nursery Cryme 70%
Trespass 70%
We Can't Dance 70%
Foxtrot 70%
Wind and Wuthering 65%
Abacab 55%
And Then There Were Three 55%
Selling England by the Pound 50%
Duke 50%
The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway 45%
A Trick of the Tail 35%
Calling All Stations 25%

Garriels I/O is one of those albums that has been in the works for some time and may or may not be released this decade, and I heard Phil has started (at least writing) an album but this also could be some time - I admit both dates are speculative and based on forums or interviews I've read over time.
