GABBLE RATCHET - UPCOMING SHOWS:

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25TH
7:30 PM
The M Bar, Hollywood
Cover $15
2 hour show of classic Genesis music!!!

I've been playing keyboards since I was a wee lad. Been a Genesis fan since 1983, but didn't become a complete diehard until late 1986. Two things happened then: I saw them live on the IT tour, and I discovered The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. To this day The Lamb is my favorite album of all time.

I'm a songwriter too...a vocalist...a drummer. (One of these days maybe I'll learn guitar. We all have to have something else to go for, right?) I have one CD of original music, entitled Bloom, and some of my own music is in the playlist to your left. If you are interested in purchasing a copy, please contact me!

Although Genesis remains my all-time fave band, I mostly consider myself a music junkie. My musical tastes are pretty eclectic, and my playlist will hopefully reflect that.

Looking forward to meeting and networking with many of you!

Checking in...

Good day all. Been a while since I have been here. Actually, I've been cutting down on Internet activity for a number of reasons....but the main one is that I have been TIRED!! Went back to work in the middle of July, after being sidelined for 2 months with neck surgery. The recovery is going very well, but boy, do I get worn out quickly. Seems like my immune system is taking longer to strengthen than I anticipated.

Anyway (they say she comes on a pale horse..), we are gearing up for our resch… Continue

It's been a long time since I...

...blogged at this good place. As some of you may know, I have been recuperating from neck surgery. To make a long story short, I had to have cervical spinal fusion on 3 vertebrae in my neck. Probably from too much headbanging back in the 80s. ;-)

Seriously, I'm still unable to drive or work but am improving nicely. Our "FOXTROT Plus!" gig which was supposed to be this past Saturday has been rescheduled for Saturday September 20th, which will be more than enough time to a) recover enough to do… Continue

Well, I'm a completist again....or at least approaching it!

A few years back, I more or less swore off "completism". I'd been big on the concept in my teens and twenties, but after a series of apartment moves, I felt I had to be realistic and just keep the stuff I knew I loved and was going to listen to.

However, at least with Genesis I think the "completist" gene has returned. No, I don't have the box sets yet, but I just won the two "Way We Walk" CDs from eBay, and am looking forward to hearing them again.

Also...I've been slowly collecting import pr… Continue

Playlist notes

Hello everybody.

Since my playlist includes some non-Genesis related stuff, I wanted to provide some background on what is there, in case you check it out and hear something you dig. Dig? :-)

First, The songs "Bear With Me" and "The Pirate's Song" are from my first CD, entitled Bloom. I am selling it privately, so if you like what you hear and want to know more, please drop me a line. Friends say they can hear a little Genesis influence, mostly in the chords. I'm way too close to my ow… Continue

I am glad you're back, Matt! Was actually wondering about you the other day -- I assume you're feeling better?
Will read your new post when I get a chance -- I have a lot of homework tonight! ;-D

Hi Matt,

I guess my musical tastes are quite diverse. But that seems to be the case with Genesis fans.
You've got some stuff on your playlist that I really like, too - Jarrett, Joni Mitchell, It's Gonna Get Better live, etc. And I really like that live Weather Report album - 8:30. I still have it on vinyl!

best,

dR

Same here, I would love to see you guys live. We started adding visuals also last show and it was a big success. My skills are not as honed as whoever does yours but it's a start!

I love everything from Trespass -Duke,but Trespass -Wind And Wuthering is like getting hit with 2 tons of bricks! And I do consider myself and always will be a purist and proud of it! By the way ,where is that version of The Waiting Room from? It's one of the craziest versions I've ever heard!
