For decades, Genesis has been one of the strongest and most influential bands in rock history. With this in mind, Leon has crafted an album that captures both the essence of and transcends their music. Taking cues from Genesis' own remake of their hit "Carpet Crawlers," Leon has modernized another song from that same album titled "Hairless Heart." The end result was so successful that he developed it into a project. More than your average tribute album, "Leon Plays Genesis" also includes original material done in the various styles of Genesis' illustrious past.

Prior to this project Leon made music for years, playing and recording with artists on two continents while continuing to hone his solo efforts. With bands such as Genesis, Yes, Pink Floyd, King Crimson and Jethro Tull proving to be his greatest influences. His mellower side is more heavily influenced by the music of Vangelis, Tangerine Dreams and movie soundtracks in general. In his own opinion he "sees" the music more than hears it, referring to the imagery the music evokes in listeners' minds.

"Leon Plays Genesis and other original stuff" is a CD that every die-hard Genesis fan should have in their collection. Being a fan himself, Leon reflects his own inspiration in the album he created. From the music to the imposing artwork on the gate-fold jacket, the CD recalls the greatest era of progressive rock.

GENESIS, more than a band for the times.

I have been reading in several forums about the upcoming live box set. Some fans love it, others don't, either way the discussions seem to emanate endlessly. Through all of this reading, I have found a renewed fondness for some of the band's albums. Played in amazing 5.1 sound, the new mixes sound incredibly superb but, what's even more amazing is the way one could pick any of the individual instruments on the tracks. In examining the music I can't help but to think that these chaps are really g… Continue

INTERVIEW

The following is a reproduction of the interview posted on my official website. For those of you who weren't aware of it, the interview helps explain my personal reasons behind the project and gives the reader a better understanding of it.

Q: What was the force that drove you to create this project?

A: In some ways the project had been an idea brewing in my head since I was a teenager. The main problem at the time was that I had no clue then as to how to go about it. I also needed to mature in… Continue

GENESIS and other original stuff

I am still working hard into getting this whole thing done by October. The bulk of the music is completed but I'm having a bit of hard time finishing a couple of the songs. On one of them I keep re-writing parts and re-recording and remixing. It is exhaustive! The good news is that a lot of other elements are falling in place. Things like the website is coming along and three out of the six songs are now completed. I spoke with Nick Davis and he gave me some recommendation for the mastering whic… Continue

We Can't Dance is what I grew up on and was not just the first CD that I ever owned, but the very first album I ever owned... the music also happened to sync well with a rather iffy time in my childhood. Trespass, on the other hand, has a great blend... I particularly love "Stagnation" and "The Knife" has a great revolutionary sound.
