Jason, Thanks for the friend invite... all of my tracks are MIDI performances that are triggering samples. But, I do play real instruments as well, just that I have this desire to recreate The Lamb as close as possible in MIDI and use a DAW to mix it and see how close this technology can come to the real deal (minus my lack of talent).

You're very welcome- credit where it's due.
Thanks for your insightful and interesting comment- it encapsulates a lot of my thoughts too.
Even all these years on there is still an enigmatic quality about them and the music, which is surely a good thing in a world where there is too much of "leave no stone unturned" mentality.
The songs for me are a little like a window into a another world - the imagination and ideas behind different things always intrigues me as well.
It's one of the things that always makes me respect them so much as a band and as people of how "normal" they are still.
BTW I wanted to ask you what is Vancouver like?
It's one of the places that's been in my head as legend for years from the song .

Thanks for accepting the friend request.
Some great photos you have both of you and Mr R himself.
Always nice to meet another Rutherfordian who appreciates him for the excellent(and very underrated) musician he is.
Have a nice day Senor :)

Hi, Jason,
Greetings northern neighbor. So far, Firth of Fifth has performed in the Philadelphia area but we've had a couple of opportunities to play NY City (we weren't ready at the time) and England which didn't happen but it would've been cool. It's not easy to get gigs for a Genesis tribute band. The pedals I play are StudioLogic in which I MIDI into the brains of a guitar synthesizer for the sound. I really like what I've seen of Canada. Toronto is awesome. A little colder, but hey, I'm usually hot anyway! LOL!

I just posted a thoughtful comment on one of the group discussions I'm on that I'd like to add here on my page...in honor of Michael Rutherford and the great classic music of Genesis:
"Mike is a genius at crafting the perfect basslines for Genesis tunes, with melodic sensibilities and the right sound. This really hit home with me the first time I heard "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" back in the mid 70's. I was a guitarist back then but soon took up the bass because of Mike Rutherford and other great bassists of that era such as Chris Squire and Geddy Lee. As a bassist I have studied and learned all the basslines of many Genesis albums and have learned so much about the bass just by this simple activity of learning the albums by ear. When I was young I spent hours and hours with headphones on playing along to albums and, without realizing it, I not only learned the bass parts but I also learned to play in time and with "feel" (who couldn't learn something about "feel" by playing along to Phil Collins' drumming?). Everything I know today started with those early years of practise."

About Me:
I'm a Genesis nut! and my most favorite era is from Trespass to Duke (although I enjoy some older tunes such as Twilight Alehouse and Stagnation). I consider myself fortunate to have grown up playing music with great musicians who always worked hard and inspired me to better myself. The band I play in currently (Augusta) continues to inspire the same quality of enjoyment and challenge to write well and play well. Please feel free to check out the original music written by Karen Augusta...I continue to enjoy the good fortune of playing and writing with excellent musicians like her. http://www.myspace.com/augustatrio
