My ears belong to Genesis

Phil

What Genesis tracks were completely unnecessary?

I want to know what (in your opinion) are the most unnecessary genesis tracks: i know some may regard 'After the Ordeal' as not needed on 'selling england by the pound' and perhaps 'seven stones' should've been replaced by 'happy the man' but let me know, im interested, people have different opinions! Thanks! GENESIS ARE THE BEST!!!!!!

Are you kidding???? After The Ordeal and Seven Stones are great tracks!! Happy The Man was almost a throw away track and if you want to talk about dumping something off of Selling England, it's definately More Fool me. Completely unnecessary?? Every album after Duke with a few exceptions off Abacab. Especially the Invisible Touch , We Can't Dance and Calling All Stations albums!!! Absolutely unecessary!!!!

er yeh i would agree with u there everything from '...three...' on wards had a or in some cases loads of crap tracks that i think genesis were just filling spaces but u did get the great tracks occasionally such as 'domino'

Replace Seven Stones? Madness!! ;)

I'd agree regarding Illegal Alien (but I hope we're not going to start a whodunnit witch hunt again!)

My unnecessary tracks:
Land of Confusion
Invisible Touch
Most of We Can't Dance album, though I quite like Fading Lights
The whole of the Calling All Stations album, but to be honest I don't even think of it as a Genesis album.

I agree with Ethel nothing Genesis has done is "completely unnecessary", just certain things that wouldn't be missed much. For me they are:

The whole FGTR stuff
"Aisle of Plenty"
(mixed feelings on) "All In A Mouse's Night", "Since I Lost You", and "Hold On My Heart"

Originally this list could have went on and on but thankfully I've seen the light on alot of other songs I used to skip over (I'm speaking of when I first started to buy the albums, hearing most of these songs for the first time)
