Rumour no more, Phil has spoken to a German newspaper about his surgery he recently had and about his new album. It will feature covers of 30 songs from the Motown label and be released sometime in 2010.
"I want the songs to sound exactly like the originals," the paper quoted him as saying.
Phil was in Hamburger, Germany to celebrate the one year anniversary of the tarzan musical
I hope this is true, because i've been anticipated Phil's new album/stuff so long and i was little boy when he released Testify. So i eagerly wait "official" confirmation and information about this.

I like the idea of Phil releasing an album now because I was quite young when he released Testify too,but I think there should be new material on it,not covers. What's your opinion?
"I want the songs to sound exactly like the originals,"
We have originals that sound exactly like the originals, so what's the point?
I think Phil is going through a nostalgic time in his life. Collecting the 'cowboys and Indians stuff' also seems to suggest this too. He's looking back to the past a lot, to a time before he was famous, before Genesis, when life seemed simpler. He's trying to recapture something, but is he chasing rainbows?
He of all people should know that "ripples...never come back"...
"I want the songs to sound exactly like the originals"
He must have meant that he don't want bring same kind of "new-waves" to songs like he did (can't hurry love, groovy kind of love, can't stop lovin' you etc.)
I think whole project sound great. These songs (motown) what he's going to cover are classics and i think Phil can do fantastic covers of them.

I didn't mean that the covers won't be good.Of course they will. It's just that I wanted to hear new songs from him,I don't understand why he's going to release just covers.
I hope so that he would do another set of shows, because i'm so young that have not been able to see him live. But like Phil has said that is unlikely to happen.
